WinSQL is an excellent query tool for accessing SQL server. Queries are one of the primary methods for accessing the information on your database, and are an integral part of using SQL. In order to use this tool, you must have set up a functional Data Source Name to negotiate a connection to the PRIMUS SQL server.

To download a copy of this query tool, click here.

Follow the steps below to use WinSQL to connect to your database.

Step 1: Opening WinSQL

Open the WinSQL query tool by clicking on the WinSQL icon in the folder you have installed it to. When you open the program, you will be presented with an ODBC Data Source Window, as is shown below.

Step 3: Enter your User ID and Password to connect to your SQL Database

Now that you have selected the data source name, the last step is to enter your user ID and password into the fields as they are listed below. This is the same user ID and password that you used to create your DSN. Once you have entered this information, click the OK button to log in.

In the query window below you would enter the SQL query commands that you would like to run on your database, and then click the green arrow button next to the trashcan to run your queries. Alternatively, you can also hit CNTRL-X to run your queries as well, if you are more keyboard oriented than mouse oriented.
